Briefly following on from yesterday's post, which mentioned Daphne du Maurier's book Rebecca.
Here's a passage from the book, which could well be the scene in the photo above :

The beacon can be seen in the photo and this is adjacent to Manderley / Menabilly - as mentioned yesterday.
Do you happen to know why the Head is called Gribbin? My family has a rumour that they came from Cornwall to Northern Ireland at sometime long ago.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how Gribbin Head got it's name but it is of Old Gaelic origin and is 'Gribyn' in the Cornish language. Gribbin / Gribben is said to be a variant of Cribben.
