A WALK AROUND CHARLESTOWN, CORNWALL

Charlestown today, the weather is somewhat changeable but there are quite a few visitors and boats about.

The once fishermen's cottages are neatly coloured

The Pier House  has  also had a bit of a make over.

Always interesting  to see the harbour.

To get to the other side of the harbour it's necessary to cross the bridge shown  below - the bit that looks like a plank of wood!

When the harbour tide is out some people enjoy the mud between their toes.

People crossing the bridge, mentioned earlier.

Homeward bound.

But first a quick look at one of the two small beaches

That's all for today

A QUICK GLANCE AT FOWEY, CORNWALL.

We had to make a short visit to Fowey so I snapped a few quick photos as we walked. The first two are views on the way from the Fowey car park into town.

We soon reached the colourful river Fowey.

A Water Taxi was returning to the quay.

A boat was nearly ready for a trip up the river.

We walked into the town via the
Customs House Hill

It turned a bit rainy for a while, but soon stopped. We walked along the town to the car ferry which crosses the Fowey River. The large house on the opposite  side of the river was where Daphne du Maurier once lived.

We had finished our reason for visiting Fowey and walked back through the town. More people about now.

That's all for t0day. Thanks for  visiting my blog ~ Mike.

LIZARD POINT : ENGLANDS MOST SOUTHERLY POINT.

The path above  is leading us to Lizard Point on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula. This is the most southerly point in England.

The flowers make a colourful contrast to the sea. We were soon at our destination.

There are lovely views,
as the next three photos show

Nearby is the Lizard lighthouse and Heritage Centre. Unfortunately both were closed.

On another walk, the next day, the weather  began to change.

Still in view though was the Heritage Centre

As we reached Housel Bay it started to rain, but the Heritage Centre was still in view

We passed the Housel Bay Hotel, which has fine views of the  the bay, and made our way to find somewhere for lunch

All in all there are lots to see on Cornwall's  Lizard Peninsula

WALKING FROM LIZARD VILLAGE, CORNWALL

Parking your car is a bit different when visiting Cornwall's Lizard Village. You park on the village green. As you can see below it has been this way for a long time. There is still a  parking charge (£3.50) but the money goes into  an honesty box.

The village is a good place to start a walk, as there are many options. We wandered off with no destination or in mind.

I wondered what it would be like to live surrounded by greenery and  a with a view of the sea.

We found our selves on the Old Lizard Head.

What a lovely spot to sit and contemplate life.

I guess it would be a bit different on a blustery,  rainy day though.

Onward, and a flight of steps to contend with.

Another lovely view with the the coastal path in sight.

There's a cafe overlooking the sea, most unexpected. We had a coffee enjoying the blueness of the sky and sea.

We joined the coastal path again.

Downhill now for a change.

We headed back towards where we started

An enjoyable walk, though more luck than judgement. Good to see the hedgerows full of colour
