This morning we went for a stroll along the beach at Carlyon Bay. Not many people about as it had been a blowy old night. The people who were there tended to be dog walkers.
It's a pleasant beach, or perhaps I should say: it was a pleasant beach. The problem is that, for what seems like forever, there have been plans to develop parts of the beach with shops and apartments. As yet nothing has materialised - other than disagreements and piles of rocks delivered for a possible sea wall. It's a shame as they have messed up large parts of the beach.
You live in a lovely part of our country, I enjoy seeing the images you collect on your walks.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. I feel lucky to live in Cornwall - having been brought up in west London, Quite a contrast! Hope you have a good week.
DeleteI am always saddened to learn of potential development in such beautiful places but of course it happens everywhere. I can't help but feel that one day we will look back and see how much we humans have diminished the beauty of our earth! Thanks for providing lovely views for now!
ReplyDeleteThe problems seem to be disputes between the local council and the developers - which must have been going on for over 10 years!
DeleteThis area is different from the old villages and coves where everything is protected and cannot be changed. The Carlyon Bay area is quite upmarket with some very expensive houses nearby (some £1 million plus), there are lots of other modern(ish) houses as well.
In the meantime the beach is a haven for dog walkers!
I hope that the dog walkers do their share in picking up and keeping the area clean😊
DeleteMost dog walkers on the beach pick up - I find it's some pavement walkers late at night who don't.
