A Short Walk and Finding New Houses to be Built at Charlestown, Cornwall

You'll see the details of the new homes at Charlestown, as mentioned in the heading, later in the post.

Firstly, a neighbour asked if we had ever walked the Public Footpath from near Sea Road, at Carlyon Bay, to Carlyon Beach. We hadn't so we thought  we'd take a look.

The start of the footpath is per the photo above, but I couldn't see how it could possibly lead to Carlyon Bay. It all looked quite pleasant so we walked the path to see where we ended up.

We passed some fields and a gate. The sky was blue so what not to like.

Some nice houses along the edge of the path.

We then saw the tall chimney, so it was obvious where we were heading -  Charlestown!

The path carried on alongside a few more houses ...

... with the hills in the background.

And then we saw the large placard giving details of 15 luxury houses to be built at Charlestown - the smaller houses starting at £495,000.

You can see details of the houses and a video here

As regular readers will know the harbour wall at Charlestown is currently undergoing some repairs.

There were quite a few people walking about in Charlestown, now that the coronavirus rules have been eased.

Mmmmm, a house in Charlestown does sound tempting!

That's about all for today, all good wishes.

    1. Thanks, the houses are expensive because of the location. Charlestown is one of my favourite places to visit.

  2. A lovely walk and, ending at Charlestown, well worth it. I always enjoy your visits here, boats & water is a favourite subject for me.

    1. Hello David, Charlestown is getting busy again now and the roads locally seem to have more and more traffic - but the Cornish economy depends on this.

  3. I like your posts on Charlestown and have been wondering about the progress on the wall. You’ll have to share photos at its completion. Interesting to see the promotional video for the new development. It looks quite contemporary in style so I hope it blends well with the existing community. On occasion we watch a Netflix series called Escape to the Country, and it seems that housing prices vary by location exactly as they do here with popular harbor towns luring those who dream of seaside living. Enjoyable post, Mike, as always.

    1. Hello Ann. My son informs me that the Charlestown wall has been completed, so I'll have to pay another visit.
There is a problem with house prices in Cornwall as 'outsiders' buy up many of the desirable properties, often as second homes. . Since the coronavirus Cornwall has become one of the most desirable places to live. Properties are selling well at the moment.
      Good wishes.

  4. Lovely pictures of your walk and Charlestown Mike. There's new houses going up all over in Falmouth. The ones closest to Swanpool beach start at £800k - ouch! ...and they're quite small really :0 Lulu x

    1. Thanks Lulu, yes houses are going up everywhere - but the roads etc. seem to stay the same. Yes, you are right about some of the houses being quite small inside. I have no desire to move.

  5. Yes, Mike, a house in Charlestown does indeed sound tempting! And it looks as though the new path worked well for you. Thank you for your comments on my garden list ... just seen our first bat of 2021 this evening!

    1. Hello Caroline, I have never seen a bat from my garden, the most exotic we get is an owl. All good wishes.
