My Garden in Cornwall

There still isn't much colour in our garden at the moment, here in Cornwall. I think Spring must have forgotten us.
On the opposite  side of the road to us the greenery is looking quite blown and untidy - as below.

Returning to our garden the azalea has a few flowers but, at his time last year, it was full of flowers with not a leaf to be seen.

Okay there a  couple of tulips and a daffodil in the front garden

Our back garden has some attractive leaves.

Toby's bush(a camellia) does have some colour and shiny leaves.

Next we have  our willow tree, quite damp and green with moss.

Spikey - below - has weathered the rain.

Other shrubs seem okay.

Quite a lot of primroses are popping up. I always  like to see them as they remind me of my mother. They were her favourite flowers.

To finish today's blog it's back to the other side of the road where some of the bushes are looking ok.

Colour and Flowers on a Cold, Cornish, December Day

I haven't been too far from home recently so was quite chuffed to see a camellia in flower on Toby's bush - Toby was my favourite dog, a wonderful border collie.
Then I noticed a hydrangea as below.

A few leaves on geraniums looked quite bright and cheerful.

I guess if we don't look we won't see. I wonder how much we miss in life.

I wandered into St. Austell. Unfortunately, it seems. I'm a bit too old to have a free ride - as below.

People were looking in shop windows including a great white lump.

The lump turned out to be a Polar bear We don't usually see many of these bears roaming St. Austell, despite the chilly weather.

There were a few colourful flowers lingering on.

The seagull must also be a flower lover.

When I returned home I noticed quite a few more buds on Toby's tree - as above. So more colour may be on its way. Today's final photo is looking into our front porch. The fir tree is on the outside.

Thanks for visiting my blog. In case I don't catch up with you before Christmas. I hope you have a happy, peaceful time.
Mike.

Cornwall in Duck Egg Blue and Other Colours

We were in St. Austell on the Bank Holiday. A strange choice perhaps, but we wanted to buy some duck egg blue fence paint.

Well, it seemed a good idea at the time. I think my wife must have been under the influence of Alan Titchmarsh! Anyway. we purchased the paint without the help of any loan sharks.

It's strange how, on a Bank Holiday, so many neighbours rev up their noisy grass mowers and strimmers.

On that note we left St. Austell and took the long exit down many steps. The building opposite is the local tax offices.

That's better, a nice touch of colour. I believe there is a Chinese saying: if you have two loaves of bread you should sell one and buy some flowers with the money. Well something like that.

We made our way back home, and below is part of our patio  fence - that would soon be a duck egg blue colour.

I had a wander around our garden.

There's a bit of colour here and there as can be seen by the next few photos.

Below is a glance of our money tree  (crassula ovata) which is over thirty years old.

Also my wife has a few runner beans in the porch, though they will soon have to go outside.

Opposite our house there are quite a few rhododendrons running wild.

A closer look of the rhododendrons.

Our first hydrangea of the year, a white one.

This is looking across our back garden to our patio.

Ah, and at last, we have the duck egg blue fence my wife wanted, with a dark slate colour at the bottom.

A similar photo. Oh dear, just remembered we now have to paint the outside table and eight chairs.

The dark slate colour.

I've rambled on enough, so final photos for today.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
P.S. Thought I'd better squeeze in a bit of  Cornwall's coastline ~ Mike
